From Balmain to Baked Potatoes: My First PFW Experience

With Paris Fashion week wrapping up, I couldn’t help but reminisce on my INCREDIBLE experience last Spring. It was my first time attending one of the most prestigious events in fashion, and it did not disappoint. I’m still pinching myself to make sure it wasn’t just a dream…

The highlight of my trip was undoubtedly attending the Balmain show with non other than the legendary supermodel, Adriana Lima. The day before the show, we all headed to the Balmain showroom which is literally a fashion lover’s dream come true. We were greeted by my friend and work colleague, Miguel. As the head of celebrity and VIP relations at Balmain, Miguel is the man behind some of the most glamorous events in the fashion industry. As we looked through all the options, Miguel shared some of his insider knowledge about the latest trends and upcoming collections. It was fascinating to hear about the creative process behind the clothes and his expertise helped us select the perfect dress for Adriana to wear to the show.

I was lucky enough to be dressed by the brand as well, (shout-out Miguel), and let me tell you, I’ve literally never looked better HAHA. The fit was a stunning belted studded blazer, with matching wide-leg pants that made me stand out in the best way possible. I styled it with my own black shoes and handbag, and was ready to take on the show!

On our way to the show, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. There were thousands of people lining up the streets, all the way to the venue, I had never seen anything like it. The show itself was everything I had ever imagined and more. The energy in the room was absolutely incredible- the music, the lights, the models, to the choreography- Olivier knows how to create a mood and atmosphere that perfectly complements his designs. He’s not afraid to to take risk’s and push boundaries, which makes his designs so unique and special.

But it wasn’t just about the show itself. Paris Fashion Week is also about the people. Fashion lovers and influencers from all around the world were in attendance, each one bringing their own unique style and personality to the event. It was super cool to see. I had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people, from fellow people in the industry, and to Olivier himself.

After the show, a group of us headed to Caviar Kaspia for some yummy food. This iconic Parisian restaurant has been a staple of the city’s high-end culinary scene for over a century, and it’s not hard to see why. There is one dish that stands out above the rest: their baked potato with caviar. Yeah… you heard that right. I mean a baked potato with caviar? It seemed like an odd pairing and I was super reluctant to try it since I’m not a huge fan of caviar, and all I can say is WOW. I dream about that damn potato.

All in all, my first experience at Paris Fashion week was a whirlwind of glamour, excitement, and incredible food. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll never forget. Here are some of the looks from the show that I absolutely died for - I need that oversized coat!! And of course, I couldn’t resist showing some of the looks that I wore myself throughout the trip. ‘Till next time <3
